  3. scent your home with a little vanilla/water heated for a few minutes on the stoves, or in a mini crockpot... so much better than all the Glade plug-ins and scented candles!

  20. Use cloth and wash with powder detergent. Also make a lot if things for your kids yourself like homemade play dough, finger paints, sidewalk chalk and bath paint. It's none toxic so it won't hurt your child or mother earth.

  45. I absolutely agree that simplifying is one of the best tips. Less stuff=less packaging, less trash, less carbon footprint, less impact overall, and less stuff to clean! AND LESS STRESS! Living simpler is a blessing.

  46. I can think of tons of Earth day tips cant really narrow it down to one tho..............but I'll say I think the biggest thing I've done is eating organic food along with using cloth diapers and recycling.

  64. My best tip is to think small. Look at your daily activities and figure out what you can easily do to make a change that will benefit the earth. If it's easy, you're more inclined to stick with it and then you can always expand from there.

  65. I'm a big fan of buying second-hand - thrift stores, garage sales - it's fun to find those awesome bargains, but even better knowing those things aren't ending up right in the trash. I'm getting better at upcycling, too.

And if hubby is hesitant...tell him that while you'll be making an investment (which is WAY less than disposables) on this baby....all your subsequent children will be diapered for FREE by reusing this set of diapers on them! And when you're done...you can sell them and get back more than half of his original investment!
